Commercial Filming Notice: Activity on Campus September 26–October 2

From September 26 through October 2 there will be a large commercial film crew working at multiple locations on campus. While not all locations will be impacted on all days, the crew will have access over this period to: Dabney Lounge and Gardens, Bechtel Mall, Morgan Library, and North Mudd Hall Laboratory. Production vehicles and equipment may also be staged around Ramo Auditorium and around the exterior and northside of Beckman Auditorium. Production vehicles will access campus along San Pasqual Walkway.

Caltech's Office of Communications and External Relations (OCER) has oversight of the project and has worked in advance with appropriate representatives from the divisions, Caltech Facilities, and Caltech Security to pre-approve the crews access and use of all filming areas. Please note cast and crew are not permitted inside any campus buildings not included in the above list; and that campus representatives will always be on-site.

All filming activity will occur indoors in pre-approved and designated spaces. If filming is in progress in areas with pedestrian traffic, pedestrian activity may be intermittently paused while cameras are rolling. Any interruption to pedestrian movement will be limited and normal passage should be quickly resumed. Large production vehicles will be parked on S. Wilson over the course of the week.

Please note:

  • Multiple OCER staff members will be on-site during the entirety of this filming activity. OCER is working in coordination with Caltech Security.
  • Large production vehicles will be parked on Wilson Ave. There will be generators positioned around campus; their placement has been determined in coordination with the Caltech Facilities with building air intake systems in mind.
  • Cast and crew are not permitted access inside any campus buildings, except for filming purposes. Any instances of crew members accessing campus building interiors without purpose or permission should be reported to [email protected].

While we will work to minimize the impact of the production on the campus community, please be advised that there will be activity and noise at the filming location and some areas may not be accessible at some points during the day. Questions or concerns can be directed to Caltech's Office of Communications and External Relations: [email protected]
