Caltech Accountability Partners Program Seeks Student Advisors
The Caltech Accountability Partners Program (CAPP) seeks current graduate students and postdocs interested in advising undergraduate students through the graduate admissions process.
The Future Ignited at Caltech is a series of events designed to support and encourage aspiring graduate students by providing the opportunity to learn more about graduate programs at Caltech and, more broadly, the graduate school admissions process. We aim to support Future Ignited participants with accountability partners who have previously gone through the graduate school application process. Advisors will provide support as students prepare their graduate school applications. The official duration of the program is from the early October to the middle of December when most applications are due. Accountability partners will first attend a training workshop in late September (Date: TBD), organized by the Caltech Center for Inclusion and Diversity and the Hixon Writing Center. Please note that all advisors are expected to attend the workshop.
This year, the Future Ignited virtual conference will take place on October 10th. Accountability partners and their advisees will be matched before the conference and will meet on October 10th. After the conference, the accountability partners will support their mentees through regular check-ins and provide feedback on the students' graduate school application materials. The approximate time commitment is 9-15 hours (1.5-hour-long training workshop, 1-hour meeting during the Future Ignited conference, and a 30-min to 1-hour weekly meeting with CAPP students during 12 weeks of the program).
We are looking for graduate students and postdocs to help prospective graduate school applicants.
