Caltech's annual convocation ceremony will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in Beckman Auditorium. Convocation serves as the Institute's formal and official welcome to all incoming undergraduate and graduate students.

All members of the Caltech community—new and returning students, staff, faculty, and postdocs—are encouraged to join us in welcoming our incoming students. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the procession of new undergraduate and graduate students into Beckman Auditorium from the south end of Beckman Mall.

Current faculty, staff, students, and postdocs are asked to arrive by 10:15 a.m. to be seated in the auditorium. Everyone seated in the auditorium will be asked to stand and greet the incoming students as they process into the auditorium at the start of the program.

This year's program, hosted by Vice President and Faculty Dean of Students Kevin M. Gilmartin, will include a welcome from President Thomas F. Rosenbaum, remarks from student leaders, and a keynote panel discussion on sustainability  led by Jonas Peters, Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Resnick Sustainability Institute. He will be joined by distinguished faculty members from across the Institute, each bringing unique expertise to the discussion.

A community lunch on Beckman Mall will immediately follow the event.
