Re: Reported Incident of Title IX Misconduct

We write to inform you of a reported incident of Title IX misconduct on campus in one of our undergraduate residences, and also to remind you of support and reporting resources that are available to all members of our community.

On Monday, July 18, Caltech received a report that a student had discovered a device with a hidden camera in a private restroom in a residence. The device was immediately secured by Caltech Security, and all students living in the residence who had access to the restroom and adjoining common areas were notified.

Caltech Security believes it has identified the student who owns the device and has thoroughly inspected associated restrooms and common areas. Caltech Security has found no other devices. The student is no longer on campus.

We commend the individual who took immediate action upon finding the device. This action enabled us to respond promptly, notify the Pasadena Police Department, and engage with and support the affected students. Caltech is continuing to investigate the matter, and has initiated appropriate procedures under Title IX.

Any community members with information or concerns for the Equity and Title IX office can reach out through an online form, or can contact the office at 626-395-3132 or equity@caltech.edu.

There are additional resources available 24 hours a day/7 days a week to support members of the Caltech community. They Include:
