Re:  2019 Commencement Speaker - Request for Nominations

It is time once again for us to gather suggestions from the campus community regarding the Commencement Speaker for the June 2019 Commencement exercises. To keep the speaker selection process on schedule for next year's event, consideration of your nominations will focus on ideas submitted by late August. Nominations submitted after that date will be accepted until the nomination website is closed.

A Commencement Speaker Advisory Committee has been established to review suggestions and to prepare a short list of names for consideration by President Rosenbaum. The committee is composed of two faculty members, two graduate student representatives, two undergraduate students representing the 2019 senior class, and myself.

As in years past, the advisory committee will use the following guidelines to evaluate suggested speakers:

(1)  The speaker should be a person of accomplishment with the notable experience and influence that provide a thought-provoking perspective about issues of importance to the Institute and its graduating students.

(2)  The speaker should be an individual who can speak well to a broad audience.

Please submit your commencement speaker suggestions, along with any comments (no more than 100 words each) about your suggested name(s) for the committee's review, by filling out the form posted on the commencement website.

Thank you for your participation.
