The Lab Equipment Access Program, or LEAP Project, aims to address resource inequality in education by helping public high schools gain access to essential lab equipment. Many schools lack the tools necessary for hands-on science education, which are critical for engaging students and supporting their academic success.

This quarter, LEAP will be working with two high schools in La Puente—Glen Wilson High School and William Workman High School. The donation drive launched on March 3, 2025, and run until April 30th. We will be reaching out to the entire Caltech campus, as well as local businesses that have expressed interest in providing donations. Requested items include:

  • Electronic balance
  • Glassware (graduated cylinders, Erlenmeyer flasks, beakers, burettes)
  • Water bath
  • Hot plates
  • Microcentrifuge
  • Stirring hot plate
  • Micropipettes and tips
  • pH meter
  • Thin-layer or liquid chromatography equipment
  • Stereo or compound microscopes
  • Incubators and ovens
  • Protective equipment (gloves, lab coats)

Interested donors can reach out to LEAP by completing a short survey form at https://leap.caltech.edu/action. More information about requested items is also available at that link.
