Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Class Begins February 7

The Caltech Campus Security Department is proud to announce a new Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class beginning February 7th, 2024.

This CERT class will be taught by Caltech Staff who are professionals in crisis and emergency response.

Come learn how to help yourself, your family, neighbors, and workplace following a catastrophic disaster.

Take the CERT training and learn emergency preparedness, and skills to better prepare you in emergency situations.

The program covers: Disaster Psychology, Terrorism, Disaster Preparedness, Light Search and Rescue, Fire Safety/Fire Suppression, and Disaster Medical Operations. The CERT class will conclude with a disaster simulation for those who complete all 8 units.

Participants must be pre-registered; you can take the courses that interest you without committing to the 9 units but must complete all class sessions to receive a CERT completion certificate and to attend the final disaster simulation. Please note, class space is limited, so please register early.

Classes are available to Caltech Students, Staff, and Faculty. There is no fee to attend.

To enroll in this training:

  1. Sign In to MyLearn from access.caltech.edu
  2. Search Course Catalog for 'Emergency Response'
  3. Select Desired Class Date and Time
  4. Select Enroll

Once registered, Zoom links will be emailed for online class sessions.

Class Size is Limited – First Come, First Serve.
